In order to first understand if you may need a lawn service professional we need to define what their role looks like.

A lawn service provider can help manage your property and keep it looking it’s best. “That sounds great, but what does that mean and do I need one?”

Your service provider will be able to identify any major problems in your lawn and landscape.  Many of those issues may be addressed within the scope of a regular service plan.  Some more advanced or less common issues can still be resolved but may be outside of the typical service plan.

You are paying for a professional to do the research for you and know what, when and how much of a product to apply to your lawn and or landscape plants.

Who is a good fit for hiring lawn service?

Based on our current clients there are several groups of people that hire services.  We see many young and busy families for instance.  Sports, school events and life can make time very valuable.  Many customers have reached out in the past to have the yard work chore taken off of their to do lists.  If you value spending more time with your family and doing the things you love then a lawn service may be a good fit.

Another group of people that may want services are those with larger properties that don’t have professional application equipment and do not intend on buying any.  In many cases this group of people may look to hire a service provider.

We service and see another group of clients that are lawn nuts at heart but don’t want to deal with fertilizer or herbicide products.  This group will typically love to mow and take pride in their property but rely on a service provider to help them stay on top of their game.

On the opposite end of the spectrum from the lawn nuts we see clients that tell us that outside is just not their thing.  No shame there, the first step is knowing!

Frequent travelers will often hire services so that when they are home they can enjoy being home and not have a laundry list of yard chores waiting when they return.

Space and storage constraints on smaller properties may have some clients reaching for the phone rather than the fertilizer spreader.  Some people just simply don’t have the space to keep lawn care equipment.

So far we have touched on what a service provider would do and who may be a good fit for hiring service.  The final question is do I need one?

Having a lawn service company is not for everyone.  There is a segment of the community that couldn’t care less what their yard looks like as long as something in it is still green.  Right, wrong or otherwise, that’s their choice and there is nothing wrong with that approach. Many homeowners are perfectly capable of doing their own research and doing the work themselves and don’t need or want service.  If you find yourself in any one of the groups discussed above, or maybe you’re in a supercool yet to be discovered group that wants to maintain a clean and kept lawn and landscape a service may be a good choice for you.
